Spring Cleanup:

$45/hr/person

As winter turns into spring, it is important to help your gardens receive the jump start they need to thrive throughout the season. Grant’s Gardening Service takes care to ensure that all plants, flowers, shrubs and trees in your gardens are given the care they need to fulfill their potential and bring your gardens to life. This all starts with an initial spring cleanup and maintenance service. 

Spring Cleanup Services:

Debris Removal: Debris removal is often the first step in spring garden cleanup. This includes the removal of litter, dead leaves, and branches from your gardens. This is important, not only to improve the visual appeal of your gardens, but because many dead debris can act as a host for pests and pathogens that can potentially harm your plants.

Garden Bed Preparation: Each garden bed may have different preparation needs for the season, for each plant thrives best under different soil and mulch conditions. Garden preparation services could include tilling soil, digging up old soil, adding new soil, composting, weeding, mulching, or adding chemicals, if required.   

Tree and Shrub Pruning: The cold months of winter can take its toll on many shrubs and trees. We take care to prune dead branches on your trees/shrubs to improve their overall health and aesthetic appeal. But shrub pruning is more than just about cutting off dead wood; it’s also about promoting new growth, sustaining old growth, improving air circulation (when desired), maintaining density (when desired), improving flowering and fruiting, and controlling its naturally desired shape and size. It is important to prune for these reasons in the early spring because this is when shrubs and trees surge into new growth. 

Perennial Pruning: While it is often best to prune perennials in the fall, many perennials should instead be pruned in the spring. Some perennials that are pruned in the fall can experience die back that can kill them, and others benefit from the winter protection of their fallen leaves. Perennials that should be pruned in the spring include: Sedums, Asters, Artemisia, Black-eyed Susan, Butterfly Bush, Butterfly Weed, Carol Bells, and many more.

Gardens require regular maintenance in order to help them thrive throughout the growing season. We will work with you to establish a maintenance schedule that fits your gardening needs. Whether that is just a single visit to get your gardens back on track, or a weekly/bi-weekly maintenance visit to keep them looking pristine. We also take on large garden maintenance projects such as garden demolitions or garden installations. No job is too big or too small!
